Tenacious D DVD The Complete Masterworks In Stores Now!
This highly provocative DVD contains:
  • The legendary and epic recital at London's Brixton Academy that was by chance recorded on November 3, 2002 - tracks include Wonderboy, Explosivo, Kyle Quit The Band, Friendship, Kielbasa, Dio, The Cosmic Shame, Fuck Her Gently, Tribute and the ever popular Live Short Films that have been screened during The D's shows.
  • The groundbreaking, hard to get (legally), HBO episodes which tell tale of The D in their early days on the road to stardom.
  • But that's not all! A bonus second disc will be gifted to the first twelve million loyal Tenacious D apostles who purchase this D-VD. This second disc includes an intimate portrait of Jack and Kyle and their life of carnal debauchery on the road. Lucky owners of the DVD will catch rare and gruesome behind the scenes glimpses of the making of the Tribute & Wonderboy videos as well as never before seen footage of The D as they perform their secret backstage rituals.

THE MOVIE
They've rocked your stereo, they've rocked your TV, and now the self-proclaimed "greatest band on earth" plans to rock the big screen.

The comedy duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, a.k.a. "The D," have signed on to star in the first Tenacious D silver screen adventure, to be directed and co-written by "Sifl & Olly" co-creator Liam Lynch, according to a New Line Films spokesperson.

In addition to co-writing the script with Lynch, Black and Gass will produce the still-untitled movie. The film will be "a creation story based on how Tenacious D became the greatest band on Earth," according to the D's Web site.

A New Line production president told the Hollywood Reporter that he sees the film as falling somewhere between the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" and the metal spoof "This Is Spinal Tap."

Black and Gass first hooked up in Los Angeles in 1994, making their somewhat unfortunate movie debut in the 1996 clunker "Bio-Dome." They scored slots on the HBO series "Mr. Show With Bob and David," landing their own short-lived series on the channel in 1999.

Tenacious D dropped their self-titled recorded debut in 2001, featuring contributions from Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl and Phish's Page McConnell. Black, meanwhile, earned his stripes acting in movies such as "Jesus' Son," "The Cable Guy," "High Fidelity" and his headlining debut, "Shallow Hal." Gass has appeared in the films "Jacob's Ladder" and "Evolution."

Though the Tenacious D film isn't expected to hit theaters before next year, Black can be seen in the upcoming music comedy "The School of Rock," directed by Richard Linklater ("Waking Life," "Slacker") and written by Mike White ("Chuck & Buck," "The Good Girl").

Joan Cusack and comedian Sarah Silverman co-star in the story of a down-on-his-luck musician (Black) who takes a job as a fourth grade substitute teacher after being fired from his band. In an effort to raise money, he forms a group with his students to compete in a battle of the bands.

TENACIOUS D: IN THE PICK OF DESTINY
This is the Tenacious D feature film that everyone's been talking about! It's already written and they're ready to begin production. Jables says about the film: "It's the history of Tenacious D... starting before there was a Tenacious D. Hopefully we can get Meat Loaf to play my father when I'm a kid and then I runaway from home because he doesn't understand the rock! And then I met Kyle and we form Tenacious D and he runs me through a training program of rock. And then we go on our first quest to be the greatest band on Earth." It's rumored to be released at the end of 2004. Stay tuned for more details.

Tenacious D

Jack Black and Kyle Gass make up Tenacious D the greatest band in the world. These guys are f-cking hilarious, and they are good singers too. I have there first and only CD entitled Tenacious D and everything on it is great, this is the first CD I ever got (not burnt).

Tenacious D also had a short-lived Television series on HBO called "Tenacious D." There were about six episodes and they were hilarious, you should download them. If you watch the show the songs on the CD make more sence. And they are working on a Tenacious D movie.
