Action Man

Action Man premiered on FOX on May 20, 2000. Action Man is a high-octane adventure series set against the backdrop of the next level of extreme sports competition known as the Acceleration Games. These advanced games include new, outrageous, and treacherous contests of skill and audacity. Alex Mann is the world class professional superstar, dubbed "Action Man." Alex lives for catching air, thrashing speed, amped-up thrills, the challenge of competition, and the freedom of life on the road with his pals. Alex leads his support crew, Team Xtreme through the fast-paced world of the Acceleration Games. But everything changes when Alex discovers he possesses a strange and mysterious power... When danger is at its high point and his adrenaline is pumping, Alex becomes an action-reaction machine of extraordinary speed and inventiveness. Alex calls this phenomenon the "AMP Factor," as it amps up his mental and physical reflexes. This ability can help him escape seemingly impossible situations and defeat the most skilled opponents. Alex soon learns that his abilities are the result of a secret research experiment called Project Phoenix. When deadly forces threaten his life and the lives of those around him, Alex is compelled to take action as a gifted amateur international crime fighter. Wanting to control and understand his power, Alex becomes involved in a deadly web of scientists and international terrorists. Aided by his team of youthful misfits, Alex travels the globe, leading a life as both a champion athlete and a world crime fighter.

Aquaman

Aquaman was a half hour cartoon show that aired two 12 minute Aquaman cartoons made by Filmation. The series premiered September 14, 1968. In 1966 this cartoon series started out as The New Adventures of Superman. The second season in 1967 was called The Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure. Filmation combined Superman with their new Aquaman cartoon series to become The Superman-Aquaman Hour Of Adventure. In 1968 the third season brought another change to the show by dropping Aquaman and adding Batman, becoming The Batman-Superman Hour. The second season not only showed Aquaman cartoons it also showed individual adventures of the Justice League of America and individual adventures of the different heroes like The Flash, Hawkman, Green Lantern and the Atom and also the Teen Titans. These are not like the adventures on Hanna Barbera's Superfriends in which they were pitted against the League of Doom. These episodes were few and do not get their own unique page, so they will be seen here with the Aquaman titles.

Atom Ant

Atom Ant was originally aired as part of The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show series on NBC, which featured Hillbilly Bears, The Secret Squirrel Show, Precious Pupp, Squiddly Diddly, and Winsome Witch. The series debuted on October 2, 1965 and lasted 2 seasons.

The Avengers

The Avengers is a Marvel cartoon creation brought to us by Avi Arad who also brought us most of the last 10 years of marvel cartoons like Ironman, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, X-Men, Fantastic Four and others. The Avengers has some elements from Ironman, such as the armoring up scene for all Avengers in the same manner Iron Man did. But the animation is nothing new or exciting and will remind you of all the other previously mentioned cartoons, especially the X-Men. One element that will seem familiar is the use of the exact same voice actor for Hawkeye who did Wolverine, done in the same style. If some of the other actors are doing Marvel voices it's not so easy to pick it out.

The Adventures Of Batman

Batman cartoons were shown in a half hour show that aired two approximately 12 min cartoons, one a Batman cartoon and the other a Batman And Robin cartoon. They were made by Filmation and the series premiered September 13, 1969.

The New Adventures Of Batman

These Batman cartoons were shown in a half hour show that. They were made by Filmation and the series premiered February 10, 1977 on CBS. This series featured the voices of the original television Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) and they added a new character named Bat-Mite and Batgirl was in this series. The episodes from this series were used later in The Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour, Tarzan And The Super 7, and Batman And The Super 7.

Batman: The Animated Series

This is a list of episodes from Batman: The Animated Series. There were originally 65 episodes ordered for the first season. Second season had an order for 15 more episodes, mostly episodes involving Robin. Then the show was revamped to include Robin in the title. All the shows that included Robin were played in this newer title and shown on Saturdays, and the Batman:TAS was no longer being shown during the week.

The Adventures Of Batman & Robin

After that season they started rerunning Batman:TAS episodes under the The Adventures of Batman & Robin banner. After another half season Fox started showing reruns all week again, and the final 5 episodes not released were finally released bringing the series up to 85.

The New Batman Adventures

A new series, The The New Batman Adventures began, later compiled with Superman episodes for the Batman-Superman Adventures. Finally, a new, futuristic Batman (not Bruce Wayne, although he is the character's mentor) was given a series called Batman Beyond.

Batman Beyond

Batman Beyond, an all-new animated series from the creative team behind the Emmy Award winning Batman brings a futuristic chapter in the legend of Batman to life as the reknowned DC Comics Superhero enters the early part of the 21st century -- a time in the not-too-distant future, but is worlds away from the Gotham where we last saw Batman. The series revolves around an elderly Bruce Wayne passing his cape and cowl to Terry McGinnis, a high school teen who locates the Batcave and discovers the millionaire's secret identity.

Birdman

These are approx. 8 min long cartoons in a half hour format. Two Birdman cartoons bracketed a Galaxy Trio cartoon. This series originally aired on NBC. It premiered September 9, 1967. It was a Hanna-Barbera Production. Birdman is a superhero with wings on his back and gets his strength from the sun, which he is continually having to recharge. He uses the sun energy in the form of heat rays and force beams and can produce a sheild made of solar energy. His sidekick is a giant eagle named Avenger, and they sometimes work for the U.S. government under the direction of a covert operative named Falcon 7. Birdman's one downfall is his habit of shouting his name constantly, otherwise it's great fun.

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
Once, he was known as the aviary superhero called simply Birdman (during the 1967 Hanna-Barbera series, "Birdman & The Galaxy Trio"). Along with his specially trained pet eagle, Avenger, he fought crime as many others before him, and many others following him, did. Eventually, Birdman fell on hard times, and the hero route went by the wayside. He soon shot a pilot for a talk show (which eventually became "Space Ghost: Coast To Coast"), but it too failed to go anywhere for him as he was (obviously) replaced by Space Ghost.

Finally, at some point, Harvey Birdman was inspired to become a lawyer. Now, as an attorney, he represents his fellow former Hanna-Barbera cartoon stars, in a variety of strange cases. With opposing council made up of his former villains, the Judge a prehistoric superhero named Mightor (of the 1967 series "Moby Dick & the Mighty Mightor"), and his pet/partner Avenger working as his personal secretary, Harvey tackles the cases only a guy in a business suit with a mask & large wings can!

Captain Planet And The Planeteers

Captain Planet And The Planeteers premiered on TBS on September 10, 1990. The series was about a group of environmental superheroes: Captain Planet, Kwame (Earth), Linka (Wind), Ma-Ti (Heart), Gi (Water), and Wheeler (Fire). Each of the team has a super power that allows them to rid the world of eco-villains who pollute and misuse natural resources. The show was retitled The New Adventures of Captain Planet beginning the fourth season. The series was a DIC Entertainment/Hanna-Barbera Cartoon/TBS Production.

The Fantastic Four (1967), The Fantastic Four (1978), & The Fantastic Four (1996)

These are half hour long cartoons in a half hour format. The Fantastic Four has been used in three different series. In the third series, the second season, Marvel Productions switched animation houses and got a new look, feel and direction. For those of you who don't know who the Fantastic Four are - they are Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Susan Storm Richards (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Benjamin Grimm (The Thing). These four humans went up in a rocket ship of Reed's design in a race to be the first humans in space. Before Reed was finished with his research, news came of the impending blastoff of rival goverments. So the four humans took off and reached space first, but when they got there they ran into a cosmic storm. Besides being radiated by the cosmic rays, the storm destroyed the instruments of the rocket ship and they headed for a crash landing. Thanks to the brilliant piloting skills of Ben they walk away from the crash, but they find their lives have changed due the effects of the cosmic rays. Reed can now stretch all his body like rubber. Sue can turn invisible and later finds out she can produce force fields. Johnny bursts into flames, but finds he can control the flame and fly. But poor Ben. He turns into an orange rocklike monster with the strength of hundreds but at the cost of his humanity. They deside that their abilities should be used for the betterment of mankind and follow this pursuit and become the world's greatest team of superheroes.

Flash Gordon (1979)

Flash Gordon was a half hour long cartoon. It followed the stories of Flash Gordon, the matinee serial idol of old, and his friends. In the second season they became 12 minute episodes. The series premiered on September 22, 1979 and was production by Filmation Productions in association with King Features.

Flash Gordon (1996)

Based on the popular Flash Gordon comic, film, and tevlevision series, this cartoon uses the same characters. Flash, Dale Arden, Princess Aura, and Ming the Merciless all return in animated form for this half-hour cartoon.

Hero High

Hero High was a half hour long cartoon, originally aired as The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam!. There was another half hour of programing called Shazam!. The series premiered on September 12, 1981 on NBC and was produced by Filmation Productions.

The Incredible Hulk (1982)

The Incredible Hulk (1982) is a half hour long cartoon, originally aired with the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends during its third season as the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and the Incredible Hulk Hour. The series premiered on September 19, 1982 and was a Marvel Production.

The Incredible Hulk (1996)

The Hulk, a massive green hero with super-human strength, but limited understanding of the world around him, made his return to television in The Incredible Hulk, a half-hour animated series. Based on the character created in 1962 by Marvel Comics' greats Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, this series introduced a whole new generation of young television viewers to a classic comic book character.

Iron Man

Iron Man are half hour long cartoons in a half hour format. The first season involved Ironman and sometimes the ForceWorks Team against the Mandarin and his evil team of villians. In the second season Marvel productions switched animation houses and got a new look, feel and direction. In 1966 Iroman, along with The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, and the Submariner, was in an earlier cartoon series developed for television in the 60's by Superhero Productions Inc.

The Adventures Of Jonny Quest

The Adventures Of Jonny Quest was a Hanna Barbera Cartoon that was a half an hour long. Jonny was the first cartoon with serious, more adult-like stories that involved a science fiction style but with fairly normal people as the heroes. Benton Quest was a scientist whoworked on various government projects. Race Bannon was a CIA-like agent assigned as Quest's bodyguard for the entire family. Hadji was Jonny's pal who once saved Benton Quest from an assasination attempt while lecturing in India. Jonny was Benton Quest's son who must travel with his famous father all over the world since his mother was deceased. Jonny was a precocious pre-teen who had a knack for finding trouble but always came through ok in the end. The series premiered on September 18, 1964 on ABC.

The New Jonny Quest

The New Jonny Quest is a Hanna Barbera Cartoon that is a half-hour long. Benton Quest is a scientist that works on various government projects. Race Bannon is the CIA-like agent assigned as Quest's bodyguard for the entire family. Hadji is Jonny's pal who once saved Benton Quest from an assasination attempt while lecturing in India. Jonny is Benton Quest's son who must travel with his famous father all over the world since his mother is deceased. Jonny is a precocious pre-teen who has a knack for finding trouble but always coming through in the end.

The series premiered in September 1987 in syndication.

Johny Quest: The Real Adventures

The Real Adventures Of Jonny Quest is a half hour format cartoon from Hanna-Barbera. This new version of the 60's cartoon has Jonny Quest and his buddy Hadji, along with Jessie (Race Bannon's daughter, originally introduced in the second series shown in the seventies) These three teenage versions of the original characters are accompanied by Jonny's father Dr. Benton Quest and his body guard Race Bannon. One of the interesting aspects of this cartoon is the addition of 3D computer animation when they enter the virtual reality of Questworld, a vast and complex computer system Dr. Quest invented. It is one of the first times 2D and 3D are mixed in the same cartoon for a reason and still makes sense. Season 2 brought the series a new voice cast and a new animation house. The slightly different look and feel of the second season did not alter the basic premise of the series.

The Lone Ranger (1966)

This cartoon series, based on the legendary Lone Ranger, was a half-hour long with three short episodes per show. This was the first animated version of the popular radio, television, and film serial character. This show was produced by Lone Ranger Productions in association with the Jack Wrather Corporation. It premiered on CBS on September 10, 1966.

The Lone Ranger (1981)

This cartoon series was shown as part of the Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour. The series featured repeats of the Tarzan Lord Of The Jungle series, along with new episodes of Lone Ranger and The New Adventures Of Zorro. There were two Lone Ranger episodes per show. It is a Filmation Production and it premiered on CBS on September 12, 1981.

Marvel Superheroes: Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, & Sub-Mariner

This show aired as part of the Marvel Superheroes show. The series was a half-hour long and featured five different Marvel comic characters in their own cartoons - Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, and Sub-Mariner. The show was Produced by Grantray-Lawrence Animation and it premiered in syndication in 1966.

Plastic Man

This show was part of the Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Show. Each show included two Plastic Man episodes, two Mighty Man And Yukk episodes, one Fangface And Fangpuss episode, and one Rickety Rocket episode. The series was produced by Ruby-Spears Enterprises and premiered on ABC on September 22, 1979.

Plastic Man was Ruby-Spears' adaptation of a comic book hero for the cartoons. Plastic Man had an elastic body that allowed him to stretch and bend any way he wanted. This let him fight the bad guys, along with the help of his friends Penny and Hula-Hula.

Sealab 2020

Sealab 2020 was a half-hour long. It was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions and premiered on NBC on September 9, 1972. The series was based on earth in the year 2020. An underwater study into finding out about living conditions underwater take place in a domed city there. Dr. Paul Williams is working there when Captain Mike Murphy (and his niece Saly and nephew Bobby) and Sparks are rescued by Sealab divers and brought there to join the Doctor.

Sealab 2021
Similar to what is done on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, this show can be described as a "cartoon remix" of the 1972 Alex Toth animated show Sealab 2020 in that the producers take the old animated footage, and manipulate it into something hilarious.

The show centers around the crew of a lab (wait for it) under the sea. Plot and continuity are sacrificed early and often for insanity and clever wit. Sealab 2021 is currently part of the Adult Swim lineup on Cartoon Network.

Shazam!

Shazam! was a half hour long cartoon, originally aired as The Kid Super Power Hour With Shazam!. There was another half hour of programming called Hero High. The series premiered on September 12, 1981 on NBC and was produced by Filmation Productions.

Space Ghost (1966)

This was a Hanna-Barbera Cartoon that ran from 1966 - 1968 on CBS. It premiered on September 10, 1966. They are approximately 8 minute long cartoons that sandwiched another cartoon called Dinoboy In The Lost Valley. These same cartoons were later paired with Frankenstein Jr. in The Space Ghost/Frankenstein Jr. Show in 1976. Space Ghost was an outer space crime fighter who had the ability to turn invisible and had a pair of wrist bands that projected force fields and various rays. He was accompanied by the twins Jan and Jace and their monkey Blip. Jan and Jace usually got in trouble and Blip would get everyone, including Space Ghost, out of it. But when push came to shove it was Space Ghost's powers that came through. Space Ghost has had a resurgence of popularity in the last couple of years on the Cartoon Network on shows like Space Ghost Coast To Coast and Cartoon Planet. These new shows are nothing like the original cartoon and are a parody of talk shows, with Space Ghost as the Master of Ceremonies and Zorak as his Ed McMahon. The rest of his cohorts on the program are who's who of his villians gallery from the original show. As far as I know Jan, Jace and Blip are M.I.A.

Space Ghost (1981)

This second Space Ghost series aired in 1981 as part of The Space Stars Show that ran on NBC and which featured cartoons by Space Ghost and The Herculoids in all new episodes that were approximately 15 minutes long. Also in this show was two other cartoons called Teen Force And Astro (from the Jetsons) and The Space Mutts.

Space Ghost: Coast to Coast
Watch Space Ghost definitive interviews with real celebrities whose expressions reveal everything from awkward puzzlement to an obvious hangover. Brak, Zorak, and Moltar are also there to help ease your suffering--and deliciously add to Space Ghost's.

The Brak Show
The Brak Show is about the daily adventures of Brak and his best buddy Zorak, prior to meeting Space Ghost. Brak lives with his family in a lovely suburb somewhere in space.
Brak gets advice from Mom (a nice lady who keeps a clean house) & Dad (a human with a Latin accent that is rather short due to a shrink-ray accident), and gets corrupted by Zorak.
Brak is an honest and somewhat dumb kid and Zorak is a foul-mouthed, destruction-loving mantis. Brak's brother Sisto is also around from time to time. Their neighbor is Thundercleese, a giant robot with massive armaments, who likes maintaining his lawn.

The Brak Show is a spin-off of Cartoon Planet, which was a spin-off of Space Ghost: Coast To Coast. Confused yet? It is an original series for Cartoon Network's programming block Adult Swim.

The Brak show is written and produced by Jim Fortier and Pete Smith and is produced in Cartoon Network Studios. Both Fortier and Smith were writer/producers on Cartoon Network's hit, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and later worked on the short-lived variety show, Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak.

Spider-Man (1966)

The first Spider-Man series was Spider-Man by Grantray-Lawrence Animation and Kratz Animation (1967 - 1969). It ran for two seasons. Season 1 had two 13 minute episodes and Season 2 went to a half hour format. There was also a third unaired season that was later released in syndication. The series premiered on September 9, 1967 on ABC. It was a Grantray-Lawrence Animation and Krantz Animation production in association with Marvel Comics.

Spider-Women

Spider-Woman was a half hour long cartoon. Spider-Woman was an attempt in 1979 to capitalize on a new female hero in the Marvel Universe. The new cartoon dealt with a character connected with Spider-Man, who was at the height of his popularity due to Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends. This is not the same Spider-Woman who came much later and ended up on the Force Works comic and later on the Ironman Cartoon as Julia Carpenter, C.E.O of Stark Enterprises. This series premiered on September 22, 1979 on ABC and was a DePatie-Freleng Enterprises Production in association with the Marvel Comics Group.

Spider-Man (1981)

The second Spider-Man series was Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends by Marvel Productions that began on September 12, 1981. It was a half hour cartoon. This same season of cartoons were later shown as part of the Marvel Action Universe in 1988. In 1983. The Incredible Hulk & The Amazing Spider-Man Hour came on, featuring a new Incredible Hulk cartoon along with a rerun of one of the Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends segments. The next season had the same format, featuring repeats, but with Spider-Man first. In 1984 Spider-Man was given a chance to have a solo cartoon again when the cartoons were split up, although it only lasted an additional season.

Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends

The third Spider-Man series was Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends by Marvel Productions that began on September 12, 1981. It was a half hour cartoon. This same season of cartoons were later shown as part of the Marvel Action Universe in 1988. In 1983. The next season had the same format, featuring repeats, but with Spider-Man first. In 1984 Spider-Man was given a chance to have a solo cartoon again when the cartoons were split up, although it only lasted an additional season.

After only 3 episodes, Fox cancelled the series in 1999. They are bringing it back to air, in order from the first episode, beginning December 2, 2000.

Spider-Man: The Series
Spider-Man, the animated series, continues where the successful live action feature film (2002) of the same name left off. The series follows the adventures of superhero Peter Parker and his friends, Harry Osborne and Mary Jane Watson, during their first year of college at Empire State University. Parker must juggle academics, a job as a Web designer/photographer for the Daily Bugle and an on-again, off-again relationship with the love of his life, all while fighting to protect the world from super-villains. Neil Patrick Harris, Ian Ziering and Lisa Loeb show off their vocal talents in this new, thrilling computer-animated series.
