Born in New York City on July 18, 1967, Vin Diesel started out in the theatre at the age of seven in "Theatre for the New City." He continued to be involved with the theatre throughout his adolescence, and he went on to attend the city's Hunter College, where his studies in creative writing led him to begin writing screenplays. Next Movie(s)

The Chronicles of Riddick
Release Date: June 11th, 2004
Cast: Vin Diesel (Riddick), Judi Dench (Aereon), Alexa Davalos (Kyra), Nick Chinlund (Toombs), Keith David (Abu al-Walid, AKA Imam), Colm Feore (Lord Marshal), Thandie Newton, Karl Urban; other cast not yet announced.
Based Upon: This is the sequel to Pitch Black, based upon a story idea by David Twohy. This is the first of three planned sequels to that film, but whether the 3rd and 4th movies get made depends upon how well this second film does at the box office. If they do, Twohy is already signed on to direct. (12/23/03) While talking to Entertainment Tonight recently, Vin Diesel revealed that the title of the second film may be 'The Underverse.'
Premise: The further adventures of Riddick (Diesel) continue five years later, as the escaped convict with the ability to see in the dark finds himself caught in the middle of a galactic war between two opposing forces, with the key figure being the Lord Marshal (Feore), the leader of a sect called the Necromongers waging the "10th Crusade" in the 26th century. Helping Riddick is Aereon (Dench), the Ambassador of the "Elemental" race, who helps Riddick unearth the secrets of his origin and Kyra (Davalos), who has grown up since Riddick knew her as a preteen girl in the first movie. Attempting to free himself and Kyra from a subterranean prison, Riddick ends up on board the Necromonger flagship, where he gets his chance to face off against the Lord Marshal in a battle over the future of all beings in the galaxy, both living... and dead.

Hannibal the Conqueror
Release Date: TBA 2005
Cast: Vin Diesel (General Hannibal Barca); other cast not announced yet.
Based Upon: This movie is based upon the life of the Carthaginian general, Hannibal Barca, who in the third century B.C. (218 B.C., specifically) famously led an army of elephants through the Alps in an attempt to attack Rome. More specifically, this movie is being adapted from the novel, "Hannibal," by Ross Leckie about Hannibal.
Premise: When his father is killed by the Romans, Hannibal (Diesel), a young man from the ruling clans of the city of Carthage on the Mediterranean shore of North Africa, makes an oath of vengeance against Rome. Dedicating his life to fulfilling that challenge, Hannibal becomes a general by the time he's in his mid-20s, and with an army of 100,000 committed to his goal, he sets out to bring Rome down, first by conquering Spain, and then by setting loose a surprise (and famous) attack on Italy by way of the Alps, with an array of forces that included war-trained elephants. This movie shows how far a son can be willing to go to avenge the death of his father.

Dreadnaught
Release Date:
Unknown; that will depend upon when filming eventually gets started
Cast: Vin Diesel; other cast not announced yet.
Premise: When a commercial airliner is accidentally shot down in a military exercise by the Dreadnaught, the most advanced Navy warship ever created, the captain (Diesel) decides to mutiny after he's ordered by his superiors to kill the sole survivor. Soon, the Dreadnaught finds itself locked in a high-tech, high seas game of cat-and-mouse with the rest of the U.S. Navy...
The premise is being changed a little bit because of the September 11th tragedy

The Fast and the Furious 3
Release Date: Summer, 2005
Cast: Vin Diesel (Dominic Torretto) (in talks); other cast not announced yet.
Based Upon: (4/14/04) This is, of course, the second sequel to the 2001 racing hit, The Fast and the Furious, which was followed in 2003 by 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Premise: After being allowed to get away by his new undercover cop friend in the first movie, fast-driving criminal Dominic Torretto (Diesel) heads down to Mexico where he lives a life as a fugitive, always just 10 seconds ahead of the law. Eventually, however, Torretto makes his way to Tokyo, Japan, which is the world's current capitol of street racing, where he is recruited to help bail out a friend who is in trouble with a powerful group of Japanese gangsters.
