Biography

Jackie Chan was born into a poor family and was almost sold when he was very young, but then he went on to be the sole support for his family. He started out in the opera, but when he started doing movies he was just a stunt man (that is why he does all his on stunts). He appeared in 25 films before his 20th birthday as a stunt man. Then in 1996 he finally got famous in the United States with a movie called "Rumble in the Bronx." He usually does one film in China and one in the US every year.

The Medallion
Cast: Jackie Chan (Eddie Yang), Lee Evans (Arthur Watson), Christy Chung, Claire Forlani, John Rhys Davies, Julian Sands, Anthony Wong
Premise: This is a police thriller set in the world of immigrant smuggling, described as a cross between Lethal Weapon and Ghost. After getting killed on the job, a Chinese immigration officer (Chan) soon learns that he's still alive, but now has amazing supernatural abilities. Even as he's still learning how to use them, he's challenged to, you know, fight the bad guys. (Evans would play Chan's British police partner.)

Around the World in 80 Days
Release Date:
June 16th, 2004
Cast: Jackie Chan (Passepartout), Steve Coogan (Phileas Fogg), Cecille de France (Monique de Grave), Mark Addy (Steamer Captain), Kathy Bates (Queen Victoria), Richard Branson (cameo), Ewen Bremner (Inspector Fix), Jim Broadbent (Lord Kelvin), John Cleese (The Balloon Man), Sammo Hung (Wong Fei Hung), Ian McNiece (Colonel Kitchner), Karen Mok (General Fang), Rob Schneider (Hobo), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Prince Hapi of Turkey), Wim Wenders (cameo), Luke Wilson (Orville Wright), Owen Wilson (Wilbur Wright), Daniel Wu (Bak Mei), Adam Godley (Mr. Sutton), Macy Gray (cameo)
Premise: This version of the classic novel set in 1872 focuses on Passepartout (Chan), a Chinese thief who steals a valuable jade Buddha and then seeks refuge in the traveling companionship of an eccentric London inventor and adventurer, Phileas Fogg (Coogan), who has taken on a bet with members of his gentlemens' club that he can make it around the world in a mere 80 days, using a variety of means of transportation, like boats, trains, balloons, elephants, etc. Along the way, Passepartout uses his amazing martial arts abilities to defend Fogg from the many dangers they face... One major threat to their adventure is a detective that's following them. Why? Just as Fogg and Passeportout left London, a major bank was robbed, with Fogg suspected of using the "around the world" trip as an excuse to escape... Their path from London and back includes stops in Paris, Turkey, India, China and the United States of America. (Jim Broadbent plays Lord Kelvin, the head of the Royal Academy of Science, who makes the bet with Fogg; Knoxville plays an "eccentric hobo" they meet along the way; de France plays a French artist who is also traveling around the world; famed British tycoon and hot air balloon enthusiast Richard Branson has a cameo role as... a hot air balloon enthusiast).

Rush Hour 3
Release Date:
August, 2005 (estimated)
Cast: Jackie Chan (Chief Inspector Lee), Chris Tucker (Detective J. Carter); other cast not announced yet.
Based Upon: This is the second sequel to the 1998 hit film, Rush Hour, which scored $141 million in the USA on a budget of less than $35 million. Rush Hour 2, in 2001, took in over $206 million (as of 9/19/01) in the USA on a budget of around $90 million.
Premise: Not much is known yet (9/19/01) about this film's premise, except that it will be set primarily somewhere on the continent of Africa. Jackie Chan told Empire Online that he prefers Egypt, while Tucker prefers South Africa. Possibly, like in Rush Hour 2, they'll just do both, starting in one, and then moving to the other? One has to wonder, that if they go to Egypt, we may get to see Jackie doing his kung fu on a pyramid? (3/29/02) New Line's Bob Shaye told About.com that this may instead be set in New York City. (8/20/02) That same site has since spoken to director Brett Ratner, who confirmed the New York City setting, plus one other where both heroes will be "fish out of water."

Nosebleed

Release Date: Unknown; that will depend upon when (if) filming actually does get started.
Cast: Jackie Chan; other cast not announced yet.
Premise: A window washer working for a Chicago skyscraper gets involved in an adventure trying to stop some sort of terrorist attack.

Operation Condor 3
Note: This is one of his Chinese movies so it will surely be dubbed into English therefor it won't me as good.
Release Date: Unknown; that will depend upon when (if) filming actually does get started.
Cast: Jackie Chan (Jackie Condor); other cast not announced yet
Based Upon: This, of course, the third in the Jackie Chan series that started with The Armour of Gods in 1986, continued with Operation Condor in 1990. Operation Condor was released in America first, so the series here has taken its name, with the first film released as Operation Condor 2: The Armour of God). In Asia, Operation Condor was known as Armour of God II.
Premise: The premise of this film is currently being kept secret. This series is sort of like Jackie Chan's version of the Indiana Jones series (without the archaeology), playing a traveling adventurer who helps out the people he meets. In the second film, the Indy similarities were especially present, as his character helped find Nazi gold hidden in the Sahara. The first two were very thin on plot anyway, but they're among the better of his recent films, taken solely for their action content.

Untitled Jackie Chan/Jet Li Project
Release Date:
Unknown; that will depend upon when (if) filming actually does get started.
Cast: Jackie Chan, Jet Li; other cast not announced yet
Premise: No details about the plot have been revealed yet, except that it's an action film (big surprise there).
